Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods, and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives. Marketing plays a key role in establishing the position of a firm relative to its competition, ultimately influencing the success of the business.
Marketing education seeks to enhance the ability to analyze demographic, social, economic, technological, environmental and cultural factors influencing the demands for consumer and industrial goods and services, so that appropriate polices and procedures may be undertaken to meet these demands. Marketing managers must understand not only the traditional areas of marketing channels, sales management, advertising, product and brand management, and research, but must also be familiar with consumer and dealer motivation. The process requires an understanding of buyer and seller behavior within the context of the overall market environment.
The Marketing and Management Major program at IIHEM is designed to give students an in-depth understanding of marketing techniques, marketing analysis and research, sales, sales management and sales promotion strategies in business. Emphasis is put on the analysis of consumer needs and behavior, and on the development of market studies.
